Lazzaro Oertli’s first song, originally recorded and produced in 2022, but remastered and re-released in 2024. The song combines a pop sound with a raggaeton beat to capture that “summer vibe”. Don’t Cry is about a guy who is in love with a girl, but who’s playing with him and not being truthful and honest. The guy wants her to be honest with him and not be afraid to be vulnerable around him.

The progress

This is the first project I worked on with Lazzaro, where we both had to find out what sound we would go for. This type of music is something I don’t have a lot of experience with, so we both had to step out of our comfort zone. I am glad we did, because it challenged me to produce something I have never done before, and learning what works and what doesn't. After two years from 2022 to 2024, I have gained much more experience from working with different projects in different environments, and we wanted to remaster the song, but adding a few more things to give it a breath of fresh air, so we met up in late september to finish the song before sending it to Øra studios for mastering. The original song wasn’t mastered professionally, so the difference was like night and day for us as it’s a crucial part of making a song. I hope to learn more about the mastering part so I can one day do it myself, but as of right now I am happy to continue learning recording, producing and mixing.

As a bonus, the song was remixed by Gopent, a producer in Barcelona, Spain. The remix was released shortly after the remastered original and can be found in the double-single release on Spotify.

Comments from Lazzaro

The song has a special place in my heart because it’s my first written song when it comes to my so-called professional music life. It was like my first challenge when starting a whole new journey of being a songwriter and a musician as a whole. The rhythm having like latino/caribbean energy is due to my background having spanish, puertorican heritage, so the idea was to bring out that side of myself as well. So this song means a lot to me.
